Welcome to the KoruOra Earth Garden!
KoruOra has both Turkish and Maori meanings which combine as "Welcome to Regeneration".
Our mission is to work with individuals, farmers and community groups helping them to create a healthier human and ecological environment. We work with the permculture ethics and principles which include ecological land use and community building.
We strongly believe that the Earth is a Garden which should be healed, nurtured and sustained. Since the Industrial Revolution our planet has suffered environmental, social and economic degradation. Global warming and peak oil are unfortunate realities now. Reversing these trends is essential for the quality of human life in the future. And they define their concept this way:
Permaculture is an integrated, evolving system of perennial and self-perpetuating plants and animal species useful to man.
Permaculture teaches us stability and resiliency, and at the same time flexibility through evolution which enables us to adapt to new circumstances. Permaculture requires incorporating each element in its design system:
- Waste, energy, shelter, community, local economy, governance and other aspects of sustainability. In this process, we consider the synergy among these elements.
- Each element serves multiple functions and each function of the system is supported by the others.
